Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the SWAtlas app for mobile devices, created by PixelBrick. This service is intended for use “AS IS”.

Effective Date

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-05.

Privacy at a Glance

SWAtlas does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, or behavioral tracking. PixelBrick does not receive your radio audio, recordings, transcripts, Saved Logs, location history, or backup files. The app stores its working data locally on your device unless you choose to export or share it.

Data Stored on Your Device

SWAtlas may store recent searches, preferences, downloaded broadcast schedules, cached map data, Saved Logs, ratings, notes, rig profiles, broadcast alerts, notification history, and Signal Tool settings locally on your device.

Signal Tool archives may include saved Space Weather reports, Radiofax images, Morse and RTTY text, Whisper transcripts and translations, and Smart Radio Recorder audio. Optional Whisper transcription and M2M-100 translation models are also downloaded and stored locally when you request them.

Microphone and Audio

SWAtlas requests microphone access only when you open an audio Signal Tool. Radiofax, Morse, RTTY, Whisper transcription, translation, and Smart Radio Recorder processing take place on your device. SWAtlas does not upload live microphone audio, recordings, or transcripts to PixelBrick.

Audio files are saved locally only through Smart Radio Recorder workflows started by the user. Radiofax, Morse, RTTY, and Whisper may retain the image or text result when you choose to archive a session, but they do not send the source audio to PixelBrick.

Optional Location

If you grant location permission, SWAtlas uses your current location to estimate the distance to a transmitter and support map-related features. The app does not use location for advertising or background tracking.

When you save a reception, a location snapshot may be stored locally with that Saved Log so the original reception distance can be preserved. If you later export your SWAtlas data, that snapshot may be included in the backup package. Transmitter place-name lookups may be handled by Apple geocoding and Maps services.

External Network Services

SWAtlas connects to external services only when needed for a feature. These services may receive ordinary network information, such as your IP address, as part of delivering the requested content:

PixelBrick GitHub Pages — broadcast database updates and app guides
NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center — Space Weather and radio blackout data
Hugging Face or model endpoints used by WhisperKit — optional transcription and translation model downloads
Apple Maps and geocoding services — transmitter place-name and map requests
External websites opened by you — official schedule sources, help videos, searches, or other links

Each external service handles network information under its own terms and privacy policy. Using an external link is optional.

Data Export and Import

SWAtlas creates a .swatlasbackup package only when you request an export. A backup can contain Saved Logs, settings, alerts, rig profiles, location snapshots, and Signal Tool archives, including saved audio or images. You choose where the package is saved or shared through the system Files interface. PixelBrick does not receive a copy.

Support Information

If you contact PixelBrick by email, the information you voluntarily provide is used only to respond to your request. Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain an appropriate support record.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in SWAtlas, replace it through an import, or uninstall the app. Downloaded models and cached data can be removed and downloaded again. Exported backup files remain wherever you chose to save them and must be deleted from that location by you.

Children

SWAtlas is not directed to children under 13, and PixelBrick does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has voluntarily provided personal information through support contact, please email PixelBrick so it can be addressed.

Security

SWAtlas relies on iOS application storage and system permission controls to protect locally stored data. You are responsible for protecting exported backup packages and any device or storage location to which you copy them.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated when SWAtlas features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
